Scientists Count New York's Cricket Population (NPR)
Scientists are trying to track New York City's cricket population. They've asked New Yorkers to help them track crickets between dusk and midnight to record the insects' calls for one minute, and then send their results and location to scientists via cell phone. Louis Sorkin, an entomologist with the American Museum of Natural History and co-organizer of NYC Cricket Crawl, offers his insight.
