Antonette Shappy: By any chance is this your photography homework assignment?
Chastity Doderer: Handheld photography simply put brought about what we now call "candid" photography, and was in part responsible for bringing photography to the masses.
Kris Otuafi: It wasn't that the first mass market cameras were hand held that changed things, it was the fact that they were cheap!
Jackson Esmiol: Prior to the brownie camera, cameras were these large wooden boxes on a tripod. To move one was not a trivial thing. The camera generally staid put and the subjects came to it. Not anyone could use one nor afford one. When the brownie camera came out then the common man could take pictures. The camera could go to the subject. The major difference with today is we have digital photography vs film. Film had to be developed, which was a cost. People didn't take as many pictures because developing them cost money. Today it costs nothing to develop a picture, so pe! ople tend to take more pictures....Show more
Jannie Ariola: Why not think about it for yourself. You're in the US, so ask around about the Argus C-4, 'Brick,' (I'll bet everyone's grandparents had one) and take it from there.
Kandi Lough: I see you have a homework assignment.
Freeman Rutkin: The handheld camera coupled with roll film took photography out of the exclusive hands of the professionals and into the hands of everybody.
Shemeka Laker: If this is a school assignment, then the idea is you think about it very hard and come up with your own conclusions. What happens if you are asked to explain your project...if someone else has done most of the thinking for you, you will be stuck.
