Why don't they teach the Tower of Babel theory of the divergence of languages in my linguistics class?

Long Woltjer: Danged if I know, but they ought to, since it is the correct answer to the entire course.

Lonnie Jehle: The same reason they don't (sadly they do in some places) teach fairy tales in the science class.

Hong Hunkin: It is possible it is because students didn't bring it up. Also linguistics inst necessarily "religion". However every linguistic agrees that the first language was pictograph - which later became identified in parts of Africa as Canaanite - that is the language the Jews used, 2 Kings 18;26.

Rena Pepe: What controversy. Your fairy-tales are laughable. Or is that the point you're trying to makes ? Sorry, too subtle to penetrate the thick fundy skull

Charline Granes: Since your question looks for only one lesson I would limit myself to your query status. The value of humanity is falling apart too rapidly in today's world as a result of which so much of violence world wide. What we need to teach is to ask to respect social bin! dings and human values specially to the upcoming generation. Other positive things would follow automatically.

Adrian Sherlin: Exactly!I've even heard that they don't teach the stork bringing children as an alternative to sexual reproduction in biology classes. Its a travesty.

Clemente Schoeck: Because the Tower of Babel is a myth, and not even an original one, it's Sumerian in origin

Kellie Waycott: I agree with the first answer. NOT A THEORY!!!!

Dexter Gold: Silly fairy tales have no place in schools; you're there to learn about facts and reality.

Pamela Meno: thats not a thoery

Lewis Ranft: 1) It is not a theory, it is a story. A theory is a good theory if it satisfies two requirements: It must accurately describe a large class of observations on the basis of a model that contains only a few arbitrary elements, and it must make definite predictions about the results of future observations.2) it has no solid evidence, and if you look r! eally closely, the tower itself doesn't make structural sense.! It would have been 8,147.04 Feet tall, or 1.543 miles tall. That is nearly 3 times as tall as the world's current tallest building. Currently the tallest building is Burj Khalifa (formerly Burj Dubai), and it stands a whopping 2,716 feel tall....Show more

Hobert Dula: clearly you have a one sided teacher with a single thought

Randall Twehous: That's next, after they establish creation "science" in the classroom. :-(
