Florencia Manolakis: You're too smart for this forum.See the answer above.(Not truth fairy, the other one)
Lyman Gauld: "such as nuclear reactions."Actually, just to correct you for future debates, nuclear reactions conserve matter and energy. when the hydrogen combines to form helium, helium weighs slightly less. that missing mass is turned into the energy that the sun releases.Quantum mechanics is a different case though....Show more
Joie Libutti: Those people who use the law of conservation of mass also do not understand that the law is only applicable for closed systems where the total mass is well understood. The universe's mass is not well understood.
Isreal Kochheiser: They clutch at straws and really have no idea what they are saying.Their rhetoric is mainly gleaned from creationist websites. It's a very sad (but funny) spectacle.
Brian Marquina: I think the Law of Conservation of Mass only works in chemistry. Chemists accept it, but biologi! sts point and laugh at it.
Georgina Natal: Jesus can make wine from poop.
Kenneth Queener: Also their God is an exception to that law -_-
Elden Dedon: Lol, I bet all the fundies just read this question and then leave.
Pasquale Pollet: First, the word 'theory' is applied to any scientific idea that has been tested and cannot be disproven and is then generally accepted as fact. That's just how science works. Remember...*gravity* is also just a theory but nobody has an issue accepting that one. That said, I've never found a reason why evolution and intelligent design (or creationism - choose your label) can't coexist. I really think these ideas only serve to reinforce each other...if you can abandon the idea that the universe was made in seven days. Please allow me a moment to expound on that last item: the Hebrew word in the book of Genesis that is translated to 'day' also means 'period of time' depending on the context. Genesis doesn't give us a time ! frame, only an order in which things happened. If you can acce! pt that it really did take the universe 13.5 billion years to get where it is, there is no reason to discount that a greater power had an active hand in the development of life....Show more
Efren Clankscales: Blake writes "Actually, just to correct you for future debates, nuclear reactions conserve matter and energy. when the hydrogen combines to form helium, helium weighs slightly less. that missing mass is turned into the energy that the sun releases."I assume that she knew that. She was talking about the law of conservation of mass, and nuclear reactions do not conserve mass alone. They conserve matter and energy collectively. That is, the total amount of matter AND ENERGY is conserved, but not the total mass on its own. ...Show more
